It has been observed that white light can suppress both cell growth and protein secretion in Baker´s yeast. This effect was explored in batch liquid fermentation. Possible applications of this phenomenon are (a) use as a tool for pre-concentrating excreted enzymes prior to subsequent purification and (b) an engineering variable for regulation yeast fermentation.
